This Picture was taken from "Little America" subdivision which is atop Coast Guard Hill. Here you can see Garrison Lake, how it lays in the city limits and the peninsula in the middle is Lakeshore Drive and has some very nice homes. The beach to the left goes all the way to Cape Blanco and is 8 miles long. The only obstacle is the Elk River which in the winter is too deep to walk across. Many local people enjoy using ATVs on this beach which is still allowed. Often times after a winter storm, you can find Japanese glass floats, some of which have been floating around the Pacific Ocean for 40 or 50 years in the Japanese current.
